We were delighted last night to be recognised for ten years of Great North Run Culture by being presented with the Special Contribution to North East Arts and Culture by the good folk at The Journal Culture Awards.
Since 2008 The Journal Culture Awards has presented this accolade to an individual, group, organisation or project which has made a Special Contribution to North East Arts and Culture. Previous winners have been Jon Bewley, Kathryn Tickell, The People’s Theatre, Royal Northern Sinfonia, and Max Roberts.
We are delighted to have joined that esteemed list! Since our inception in 2005 our aim has been to bring together art and sport - celebrating two, seemingly very different disciplines, through projects, art exhibitions, filmmaking, workshops and education programmes. Exploring themes that are synonymous with both art and sport - creativity, community, curiosity and commitment.
We're delighted to have been recognised in this way and thankful not only to The Journal Culture Awards but everyone who has supported us, visited our exhibitions and created them over the past ten years.
